Info & FAQ
Everything you’re wondering, before you ask.
Room sizes, roles, catering, pricing and the fine print — answered.
Can you tailor the mystery to our group?
Yes. Choose one of our scripts and we’ll adapt it to your crowd — working in your guests’ names, your occasion, your in-jokes or company culture, and your venue. Not sure which script fits? Tell us about your group and we’ll recommend one.
How much room do we actually need?
Any space that comfortably seats your guests for dinner works. We’ve staged mysteries in studio apartments and in ballrooms. As a rule of thumb, if everyone can gather in one room for a toast, we can run the evening there. We’ll review photos or a quick video of your space during planning.
Can you do it outdoors or at a rented venue?
Absolutely. Gardens, barns, restaurants, boats and hotels are all fair game. We coordinate directly with your venue on load-in, lighting and any restrictions so you don’t have to play middleman.
What’s the difference between the actors and the guests?
Our professional actors play the core suspects and drive the story — they never break character. Your guests receive lighter “character cards” with a name, a secret and a goal. Guests can be as theatrical or as low-key as they like; there are no lines to memorise and no one is ever put on the spot.
What if some of my guests are shy?
The format is built for mixed comfort levels. Reluctant guests can happily investigate from the sidelines while extroverts chew the scenery. Everyone decides for themselves how involved to get, and no one is ever put on the spot.
Do guests play on their own or in teams?
Whatever suits your event. Most often each guest plays their own detective, with their own clue sheet and ballot. For team-building events, we can split guests into teams that share a clue sheet, investigate together and submit one ballot. Just tell us what you’d like when you book.
Do you handle catering and drinks?
We don’t cater, but we build the evening around your food and drink and can recommend trusted caterers in each region. Many hosts run the mystery across a seated dinner; others prefer a standing cocktail format. We’ll design the beats of the night to fit your service.
How is pricing structured?
Every show is $2,600 for up to 60 guests — all-inclusive of actors, a mystery tailored to your group, props and direction, with no hidden extras. Beyond 60 guests, each additional person is $10. For events outside the Toronto city limits, travel is $8 per kilometre, charged one way only. We’ll always confirm a firm, all-in quote before you book.
Is a deposit required to book?
Yes. A 30% deposit secures your date, with the balance due one week before the event. Dates are held on a first-come basis and popular weekends book months ahead, so early enquiries are wise.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Cancellations more than 30 days out receive a full refund of the deposit. Within 30 days, the deposit is transferable to any future date within 12 months. Within 72 hours, the deposit is non-refundable, though we’ll always work with you around genuine emergencies.
How far in advance should we book?
Four to eight weeks is comfortable for most evenings. For large events, holiday dates or specific venues, we recommend two to three months. Last-minute enquiries are still worth sending — we keep a limited number of dates open.
